Korean Demographic Classifications

When discussing manhwa in Korea, titles are often categorized by the age and gender of the target audience. Understanding these helps you find the right "vibe" for what you want to read.

Sunjeong (순정) / Young Female

This term is essentially the Korean equivalent of "Shoujo." It targets a younger female audience and focuses heavily on the emotional journey of the characters. In a BL context, Sunjeong titles are typically "slow burns" with high emotional tension and ethereal, aesthetic artwork. These stories are usually rated PG-13, prioritizing the romantic pining over explicit physical scenes.
