How to Stop a War with a Pout
Life as the empire’s beloved princess has its perks, including an endless supply of loyal servants and a level of comfort she never knew as a tireless mage, but the transition isn't without its life-threatening hurdles. Enisha quickly realizes that her new family is a nest of vipers. Her father is a war-hungry ruler with a penchant for conquest, and her two older brothers, Herald and Rosel, are essentially murderous psychopaths. To ensure a peaceful life and prevent the empire from falling into ruin, Enisha must pivot from casting high-level spells to practicing the art of domestic manipulation. She decides to dominate her bloodthirsty relatives with pure, calculated tenderness, effectively taming the most dangerous men in the world through the sheer power of being a charming toddler.
Watching cold-blooded killers crumble in the face of a baby’s pout provides a constant stream of humor and heart. However, the stakes remain high. Enisha has to navigate a constant stream of assassins and the looming threat of being recognized by her former home, Arcos. If her past identity is revealed, it could spark a continental war that would shatter her comfortable new reality. She finds herself in no rush to return to her life as a supreme mage; being the focal point of Hyperion’s hope is far more interesting, even if it means managing a familiar and dodging the occasional blade.
While the art style might not be the most intricate in the genre, the exquisite use of color brings the magical elements to life, and the expressions—especially Enisha’s internal monologues versus her external "cute" persona—are gold. It is a story of evolution, following the protagonist from infancy to adulthood in a world where magic is the ultimate currency. If you enjoy a "hidden power" trope mixed with eccentric characters and a dash of future romance, this is a journey worth taking.
